Welcome & First Setup
Welcome to RaceTagger! RaceTagger is an AI-powered desktop application designed for sports photographers. It automatically detects race numbers in your photos, matches them to participants, writes metadata directly into your files, and organizes your images into folders by detected numbers. Your First Analysis
Ready to analyze your first photos? Here's a step-by-step walkthrough:
- Select Photos: Click the "Select Photos" button or drag and drop a folder of images directly into the app window.
- Choose Sport Category: Select the sport category that matches your event (e.g., Motorsport, Running, Cycling, Triathlon). This helps the AI focus on the right type of race numbers and improves detection accuracy.
- Start Analysis: Click "Start Analysis" and the app will begin processing your photos.
- Watch Progress: You'll see real-time progress as each photo is analyzed. Processing time is typically 2-5 seconds per image, depending on your computer and image size.
- Review Results: Once complete, see all detected race numbers with confidence scores. If you've loaded a participant list (CSV), the app will automatically match detected numbers to participant names.
Supported Photo Formats
RaceTagger works with the following file types:
- Standard: JPEG, PNG
- RAW: NEF (Nikon), ARW (Sony), CR2/CR3 (Canon), ORF (Olympus), DNG (Adobe)
Understanding Results
After analysis completes, each photo shows detected race numbers alongside a confidence score. The confidence score tells you how certain the AI is about its detection.
- High Confidence (80-100%): The AI is very confident in the detection. These results are almost always correct.
- Medium Confidence (50-79%): The detection is likely correct but worth a quick review. Use this as a starting point for manual adjustments.
- Low Confidence (<50%): The AI is uncertain about the result. These should be checked manually or may indicate the race number is not clearly visible in the photo.
- No Detection: If the AI cannot find a race number in a photo, it goes into the "Unknown" group. You can review these manually or skip them.
Pro Tip
Photos with clearer race numbers and better lighting typically yield higher confidence scores. Always review low-confidence detections before finalizing your results.
